Subject:  Battlestar Galactica-new series

Anybody seen the latest series ?
It`s pretty brave for an American production. Pertinent issues regarding the war on terror; collaboration (an issue that we in the Allied Territories associate with European/conquered countries), suicide bombings, revenge, political manouverings and divisions; not of loyalty, but of the wisest/most profitable, course of action.
As I say, a brave move by the producers but I`m afraid that Bigots wouldn`t recognise themselves even if they looked in a mirror.

Really enjoy the take on Baltar--more for him to do than sit in a big chair with light playing evily up into his face...

Yes, I agree. It didn`t ring true in the original series that even a coward would sell out his species in exchange for a throne in an empty room in a spaceship that he didn`t even really have any control over.
However, much as I love the series, it still strikes me as Hill Street Blues In Space.
I`ll keep with it, though.

Part of the problem with the original depiction of Baltar is that the show went from being a telemovie to cinema release to tv series, with his role increasing all the while... His deal had been that the Cylons would leave his colony alone, but by the time he's installed in be big chair it's kind of irrelevant. We had about the first series of Hill Street Blues on free to air a couple of years ago, and they played a bunch of episodes in reverse order...!

So it`s a bit like that film Memento with Guy Pearce, eh? Those clever people in telly-land.
Memento`s a great film by the way. Anyone who hasn`t seen it should do.
