Hey There People

Just got The Tenth Planet and watched it, loved it, it is a classic

Just a pity William Hartnell was sick during the filming of Episode 3 so he spent the whole time in bed and such a pity that the last episode doesn't exist anymore

Something that has confused me... I also got the 1996 Movie... in it they say the Doctor is half human??? I don't understand were this one come from?

Do we accept this as canon Martin?

Definitely the most contentions thing in the telemovie!

The telemovie is considered canonical, even though many people don't like it much, I haven't seen anyone say it's not real in the way they do about the books or McCoy era.

While it's "BBC canon", so was Scream of the Shalka and *no one* has ever called Richard E Grant the ninth Doctor since the new episodes aired!

So, yes the telemovie is canonical and the Doctor claiming this is canonical. The real question I suppose is exactly what "half human" means in this regard...

Martin!

They really should have continued on with McGann. the telemovie rocked.......andI think the mystery of the half human contention would have made for some good twists in the overall plot, errr, canon.

But......it may have also just made the character of the Doctor sillier and caused some unncessary melodrama.

I thought the Telemovie was a masterpiece, however, if it had continued then we probably wouldn't have the masterpiece we have today Just such a pity we lack continuity without a regeneration from McGann to Eccelston

Hopefully they will have some type of flash back episode or something so McGann gets another brief look in Would be great is Colin Baker gets another look in Even better if in the first episode Tennant regenerates back into Colin Baker

The Paul McGann Dr was great.  They should definately do a 2 part story in the new series teaming him with Doc. 10.

It would be interesting to find out what happened to his granddaughter Susan - or for that matter, who Susan's parents were?  An intruiging story could be made about that Im sure.

Nyah, it's time to stop concentrating on the injustices and crimes of the past. How about a reunion featturing the future Doctors: Joe McGann, Mark McGann and Stephen McGann?

Well, I've just watched the BBC 1 trailers for David Tennant and the word 'onwards and upwards' together with 'phenomenal' come readily to mind.

We have specail effects that borrow from "The Matrix" and "Star Wars" and some stunning looking alien landscapes - this new season is just what I've been waiting for.

And as I have said before, Tennant has the eccentricity and charm of the 1970s Doctors, with style and coolness to placate 21st century audiences. The formula is fantastic (except for Rose - why do we have to put up with her and Mickey and her bloody plebian Mum!!!!)

So execpt for the companions, it's:

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!

...........and roll on the time when ABC screens it here!!!!!!

Here's an idea.  What about having a son/daughter of a previous companion?

The grandchildren of Ian and Barbara being Doc 10's new companions?  Interesting thought......

Good idea!

As Ive mentioned elsewhere - I would love to see a story that had the Doctor's children in it.  If Susan is his granddaughter - where has his children been??

Im amazed that has never been explained.

You've made a very good point, but won't the story run the risk of becoming a bit soap operish like "Sons and Daughters" or "Neighbours"

oh yes, Dr Who meets Neighbours!  So does that mean Kylie Minogue will play his daughter???

Seriously, I think it's about time they addressed that issue about the doctors children.  It's been over 40 years now!!!!!

If they did do it, it would have to be done with taste and style. I mean, we can't have 'dramatics' going on in a series like Dr.Who; he is after all a Time Lord and the show is fantasy. the whole point of his companions is to add the 'human factor' to the show - emotions, as we (supposedly) know them, are entriely alien to The Doctor.

So what I'm trying to say is ok, if the series were to explore the mystery of his bloodline, let's hope that it will not be some farce where we get door slamming and 'Why were'nt you there when I needed you?' rubbish going on like human families tend to do!!!!

(Let's hope that hypothetical scenarios for Time Lord 'family' involves things like some sort of telepathic link that is genetically passed on so that they can call to each other across time and space, and they also have a genetic link that connects them symbiotically through DNA with the TARDIS  -  maybe even the way that they regenerate is heridatry aswell)

Would have been interesting to see if The Master was actually a relation of the doctor - could he be the docs 'prodigal son'???  Now that would be a revelation and a half!!

What if the Master was the Doctor's Son, now that is a good idea, but who would be the mother? Peri? hehehe

Maybe he's the Doctor's half brother - his father was Gallifreyan and his mother was an Earthling (ref. the Paul McGann telemovie), so perhaps the Doctor's father was a bit of a renegade too, and had more than one 'lover', and the result was two very different offspring from two different females. The Doctor was the product of the union between Time Lord and human, and the Master was the product of the union between Time Lord and ??.

Well if The Master is the Doctors son, then maybe The Rani is the mother??  Talk about a dysfunctional family!!!
