Doctor Who" spin-off series "Torchwood" that was due to premier in winter has run into technical problems which has apparently forced the BBC to re-shoot much of the series.
According to a source for the Sci-Fi Pulse website, "What was originally going to be a dark and brooding series has suddenly gone all bright and glossy". Why? Seems the flashy Panasonic HD cameras are having problems working in low light. He adds "A lot of tape has been junked. Scenes re-shot in full lighting".
The series follows a group of renegade criminal investigators in modern-day Cardiff who make use of alien technology that has fallen to Earth. Production was originally scheduled to run from May to October, with airing to begin around October/November. No word on what delays will ensue due to these problems. |

Had to reply to this.
I`m probably stating the obvious here but tonight I just watched Bad Wolf again. During Rose` ordeal on the Weakest Link there was a question posed to which the incorrect answer was Touchwood. The Anne-Droid replied that the correct answer was Torchwood and dis-integrated the contestant.
As I say, you were probably light years ahead of me on this but I just had to mention it. |

I`m actually a little bit worried about Torchwood. You see my 6yr old boy is looking forward to it so much.
So am I, but I believe It will be dealing with issues which are slightly more serious or possibly in-depth than the Who series.
This is the definition of what Sci-Fi should do but; I already find it awkward to answer some of his questions regarding Dr Who. Now, given the subjects already skimmed over in the last two series`, I believe Torchwood will be a fair bit darker/scarier, and be dealing with adult themes in a less dismissable way.
No, I`m not a prude, and I will not stop him watching (unless it gets really nightmare inducing, sleepless nights sort of heavy) but it`s going to get harder to give a child friendly explanation / lie that will allow him (and my wife and I) to get to sleep at night.
Then again, I`m sure it will be worth it .
I Hope.
Oh Yeah;,,,,,,,,,, Stephen Fry for Dr Who |
