I'll have to go for An Unearthly Child, because it was obviously an important story being the first one, and set up the tone of the 1st season.
Arc of Infinity was great too, but not as pivital to the Dr Who mythos as Unearthly Child. |

Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways.
Same reasons as for Unearthly Child, that 2 parter was important to the Dr Who mythos, and perfectly captured the angst of the 9th Doctor. Definately one of the best stories of the 9th Drs era

I've noticed a lot of people don't like Bad Wolf, but it and Parting of the Ways beat the solid Black Orchid!

hmm very difficult.
Castrovalva was again an important story as it bedded in the 5th Dr, and established what his tenure would be like.
On the other hand I really loved City of Death - a very well written and acted story that didnt waste a second of its 4 parts.
I'll go for City of Death.
Day of the Daleks gets my vote. The team of the 3rd Dr and Jo was going very well, and it was the first Dalek story shown for 5 years. |

City of Death over Castrovalva, but Death over Day.
I see Jimmy has Day in his WORST list, so Death it is!
Doctor Who and the Silurians vs Dragonfire.
Enemy Within vs Father's Day. |

I'll go for The Silurians. That firmly established the 'Dr on earth' scenario, and introduced a worthwhile new villain.
Despite the fact that I dislike 7 parters, that story did at least seem to hold it's momentum fairly well.
Earthshock was a good story, but at the end of the day, it was style over substance.
Father's Day wins. As said previously, it showed the relationship between the Dr and Rose very well, and helped further define what the new series was about.
Enemy Within had too many flaws to really succeed. |

I really like Silurians too, and I know this'll be controversial, but I'll agree that it's better than Earthshock!
I have no firm feelings between Father's Day and Enemy Within, indeed Father's Day is the most similar 2005 episode to the telemove. I'lll go with you.
Frontier in Space vs Full Circle.
Genesis of the Daleks vs Horror of Fang Rock. |

Frontier In Space. It aimed to be an epic 3rd Dr story, and was a reasonable success. It's also important for being the last Delgado Master story, and it's link to Planet of the Daleks....
Which brings us to Genesis of the Daleks, which gets my vote. This story has it all, with the added bonus of the Baker dr finally finding his feet in the role.

Yes, nothing against Full Circle and Horror of Fang Rock--but there's no contest!
Inferno vs Kinda.
Logopolis vs Mawdryn Undead. |

Very difficult choice. I realize that a lot of people love Inferno and think its a very exciting story.....but I have to go for Kinda.
Kinda is such a complex and interesting story, with strange images, which for once allow a companion to go on a journey. Kinda is the one for me.
Again, I love Mawdryn Undead, it has a lot of great things in it.
However, I'll go for Logopolis, as it closed the Baker era in fine style, and had a lot of great elements in it that were built on in later seasons.

With both Kinda and Inferno on his list, even if I disgree Kinda's goig to win! Kinda by a nose.
I'll go for Logopolis too. Some very strange material, but good direction.

I can't comment on Mission to the Unknown as I havent seen it. So Nightmare of Eden wins by default.
I'll go for Planet of Evil - as the idea of having the entire planet be 'the enemy' was a good one, and the pairing of the Dr and Sarah was really hitting its stride.
Planet of the Daleks seemed rather drawn out in my opinion. |

Mission to the Unknown is a pretty good episode (for one I've never seen). And strangly it conforms to something Americans seem to do lots of---spin offs! While not intended as such, an episode in an ongoing series featuring a whole different set of characters and situations with minimal (in this case no) involvement from the regulars. And Terry tried to get the Daleks and Space Decurity Service picked up in America... I'd give it to Mission over Nightmare, not the worst from season 17.
Planet of the Dalek's not my favourite (six episode-itis), Planet of Evil's fine.
Pyramids of Mars vs Remembrance of the Daleks.
Revenge of the Cybermen vs Rose. |

Pyramids of Mars definately wins, such a great story. One of the classics.
Rose gets the vote as well. I never liked Revenge of the Cybermen. It did have elements that were good, but the whole thing was let down by a dull story. The only story from Season 12 that didnt come up to scratch. |

Pyramids would be likely to slaughter any opponent here...
Poor old Revenge! No one like it, boo hoo hoo. It's a lonely little petunia in an onion patch...

Spearhead From Space for sure. Definately one of the best debuts for any Dr. and was the first in colour. The set up of the earthbound adventures was well handled, and The Autons were fantastic additions to the villain gallery. Plus it still scares the pants of me too!!
Terror of the Autons wins as well, It introduced Jo and The Master - 2 pivotal characters that would help define the 3rd Drs era. |
