ABC TO SCREEN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: WHEN JULIA MET THE DOCTOR

*  ABC will screen an exclusive interview with incoming Doctor, Peter Capaldi.

*  ABC to simulcast premiere of movie-length episode Deep Breath at the same time as the UK.

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated premiere of Doctor Who Series 8, ABC is thrilled to announce it has secured an exclusive interview with the incoming 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi, which will screen on Wednesday August 20 at 8pm on ABC.

Hosted by Julia Zemiro (Julia Zemiro's Home Delivery), WHEN JULIA MET THE DOCTOR is a half-hour, one-on-one interview that will introduce the new Doctor to Australian audiences four days before his TV debut.

Filmed in Sydney during the upcoming World Tour, the interview will explore Peter’s experiences playing the Doctor so far, his relationship with the character over the years, and the challenges in taking on a role of such global cultural significance.

Julia will also explore Peter's TV and film career -- from his first acting role in the film Local Hero to the foul-mouthed and manipulative Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It.

And for Whovians all over the country, ABC will simulcast the movie-length first episode of the new series, Deep Breath, in line with its broadcast in the UK, in the early hours (time TBC) of Sunday morning 24 August (EST).

Following the simulcast, the episode will be available to watch on ABC iview throughout the day before its broadcast on ABC at 7.40pm Sunday 24 August.
