ABC iview travels through time and space to fast-track Doctor Who

New series of Doctor Who premieres on Sunday, September 20 at 5.30am AEST on ABC iview

ABC iview is delighted to announce that the ninth series of Doctor Who will be fast-tracked direct from the UK, with the first episode premiering on iview on Sunday 20 September at 5.30am (AEST).

Each fast-tracked episode will be available to watch on ABC iview early on Sunday mornings*, as well as throughout the day, before it is broadcast on ABC at 7.40pm.

The new 12-part series explodes with episode one – The Magician's Apprentice – one half of a two-part storyline. When the skies of Earth are frozen by a mysterious alien force, Clara (Jenna Coleman) needs her friend. But where is the Doctor (Peter Capaldi), and what is he hiding from? As past deeds come back to haunt him, old enemies will come face-to-face, and for the Doctor and Clara survival seems impossible.

The ninth series sees the Doctor and Clara reunited for time travel on a cinematic scale. The duo goes on a journey that takes them to deadly alien planets, creepy underwater bases, Viking villages, a global Zygon uprising, and hidden alien dens which leads them to the end of time itself.

The Doctor will also come face-to-face with Missy (Michelle Gomez), a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries called the Mire, terrifying ghosts and far more.

*Due to Australian iview start times being based on the UK broadcast schedule and daylight saving changes during the series, ABC TV will announce the time each fast-tracked episode will be available on iview on Facebook (facebook.com/ABCTV, /ABCiview) and Twitter (@ABCTV, @ABCiview). Based on UK scheduling we hope to share this information on Fridays prior to the Sunday screening.
