Slightly obscure, the bad Argolin from The Leisure Hive--and it's Pangol.

I didn't like The Leisure Hive - the only good thing about that story was the new opening/closing effects and the incidental music, so I'll agree with you guys about Rorvik.

(Though I've watched Warrior's Gate a number of time and still find it unfathomable!)

Is it time now to say 'Sabalom Glitz vs. Scaroth'?

If so........I must say that that's a interesting one! Glitz was one of the best comedy relief characters in the show's histroy, but he was NOT a good villain.

Scaroth on the other hand brought style and class to Dr Who; City of Death is an indubitable classic.

Therefore, this one for me has to go to Scaroth.

Scaroth was good; although his unveiling at the end of episode one was one of the least convincing cliffhangers of all time.

Sea Devils vs Shadow.

Sea Devils for sure, one of the best baddies of the Pertwee era.

The less said about their return in Warriors of the Deep, the better.

The sight of the actors playing the Sea Devils with their masks nearly falling off was a painful sight.

Yet another thing to 'thank' JNT for!!!

DEFINITELY The Sea Devils. That has to be one of Pertwee's finest stories, and includes two of the most memorable scenes from his time in the program (the sword fight with The Master, and the scene when the Sea Devils arise from the ocean, ready to attack the naval base).

But as for JNT's Warriors of the Deep, a wise man renamed that story as 'Warriors on the cheap'............it certainly did show just how low Doctor Who production standards were going.....and the worst was still yet to come with the McCoy years!

Speaking of the Sea Devils, the other day I watched the first episode of Season 4 of Blake's 7.

If you look closely, the monster in it was wearing a sea devils mask.

Talk about an el cheapo monster!!!

I'm less taken with The Sea Devils (the adventure); it lacks the moral dimension of Doctor Who and the Silurians. The Sea Devils themsleves are fine villains, but dosn't anyone care for The Shadow?

Silurians vs Sir Charles Grover and Professor Whittaker.

Silurians wins this one.

Although I find it hard to classify them as true baddies.  By the end of their first story, it turns out that UNIT did the evil deed by apparantly destroying their race.

Peter Miles is villainous in both stories!

hmmm very tough choice.

I'll pick Styggron - even though he was just as evil as the Slitheen, he looked much scarier.

The Slitheen looked about as deadly as teddy bears!!!!!!

Sutekh had to have had the most insidious lines in Dr Who history.............."Kneel before me plaything of Sutekh", "Your evil is my good", "I will keep you alive for an eternity in the most excrutitating pain (sic)", etc.

This one has to go to Sutekh........I mean he is an interpretation of Satan after all!

Or rather--Satan's an interpretation of him!

Terileptils vs the Captain and Queen Xanxia.

Or the Captain and Tennille.

That's a bloody hard one!

I liked the Terileptils - The Visitation was one of Davsion's 'classic' stories.

But as for villains, The Captain and Queen Xanxia were very villainous (if that is a real word!!!!). Their plans to mine planets dry was very evil, and the Captain's temper was amusingly irascible.....and the Queen was terribly corrupt and devious.

So, therefore, I think it has to go to that villainous (sic!) duo.

ok, Im going with Jimmy again for that one.

Any duo that gets compared to the Captain and Tennille is surely a horror no one should experience!!!!

He seemed a strange choice, best known for poncing about in a top hat prior to the role. Occasionally he'd break into a west counties accent which was quite fun!
