Well I consider The Rani as being a total villain for appearing in one of the worst stories ever!!

Time and the Rani was the absolute pits, so she gets my vote for sure!!

Ive always enjoyed Kate O'Mara for camp value though.

Definitely the Rani!

She was an excellent villain in The Mark of the Rani, but as for all McCoy stories, she was awful in Time and the Rani........Destroy the McCoy years!!!!! Destroy them at once!!!!!!

Glad to see you guys gave The Master the thumbs up on this forum. He was the quintessential classic series villain, especially when portrayed by Roger Delgado.

yes I prefer the Delgado version over the Ainley one.  The Ainley Master had potential, but of course was let down by the stories.

The less said about Eric Roberts as The Master, the better!

The best thing about the '80s Master is that his motivation is self preservation. Mark Gatiss flet he had to explain in a novel why the Master had formerly kept trying to destroy Earth--revenge!

Maxtible was an excellant villain; Marius Goring was one of the big name actors in the show in the sixties. Pity there's only one episode left of him!

Tobias Vaughn vs Valeyard.

Definately the Valeyard.

I would love to see a story with him in it again.  I think there's still a lot of potential in that character.

This, again is another VERY difficult one!

Vaugan was mad and ruthless, he was the first of the larger than lfe James Bond like villains that were to be so often used in Dr Who.

The Valeyard - well, for me that was hard to follow. Yes, he was evil, etc. but was he really the in - between incarnation of the 12 -13 Doctor?

Because both Trial of a Timelord and the Valeyard were both so hard to understand (BUT they were still entertaining!) and Tobias Vaugan was one of the best villains from the Troughton years, I'm voting for Tobias Vaugan on this one.

Holmes was quite clear that he was; JNT had the script altered to make it more ambiguous.

Vervoids vs War Chief.

I hate the Vervoids as they were in the story that introduced Mel !!!

So The War Chief wins by default.

The War Chief  for sure - He was ruthless, cold, calculating and diabolical. A reflection of the evil that scientism is capable of, to quote Ozzy Osborne

"Treating people just like pawns in chess......."

Definitly the War Chief; I can see why some have tried to claim him as a pre_delgado Master!

A three way contest again:

Wirrn vs Xoanon vs Young Silurian.

I'll go for the Wirrn this time.

As Ive said before, I don't really classify the Silurians as true villains....they were only protecting what was already theirs in the first place.

The Young Silurian was--he murdered the Old Silurian when he wanted to make peace with the humans!

Xoanon was certianly an unusual villain. The Wirren were tops though!

No, guys!

Xoanon is the winner here in my opinion.

The computer was the best protrayal of a schizophrenic ever in sci fi. It was an excellent account of Freudian/Jung psychoanlysis.......and The Face of Evil is the most underrated Dr Who story ever, together with Knda.

I never really cared for Face of Evil to be honest, and I wasnt too crazy about Leela as a companion either.

But I do agree that Kinda is one of the (few) classics of the 5th Dr era.

Sorry, dude!

Face of Evil was fan - bloody -  tastic (from my point of view)......but I know that my opinion is in the minority on this one.

Face was good--impresive set, great new companion, interesting idea. Xoanon and the Young Silurian pale before the creepy Wirrn though!

The Wirrn concept was 'Alien' 5 years before release.

I know, the Wirrn is the majority winner, but i still vote for Xoannon.
