Chen was excelent, and won the TV Radio Times poll for villain of the year 1965! but Solon was also good.

I think Chen by a pointed fingernail.

Now a question:

Why did the Cybermen never appear during Pertwee's era?  I know there was a 'cameo' appearance by one in Carnival of Monsters, but was there a reason they didnt turn up until the Baker era??

Ive always wondered why that was - I reckon a Pertwee/Cyberman battle would have been quite good.

pertwee had what  I think are the best scripts to work from with the lowest budget. mayne they could not afford to have cybermen that where actually silver. as they would have been the first to appear in colour.

personally I dont think Pertwee need a cyberman story. but yes it would have been nice.

who would win between the new cybermen and the original cybermen.

I don't know why, but it may be they felt the Cybermen had been overused, that the Cyber-writers had left the series, or Letts and Dicks didn't like them.

Morbius vs Morgus.

Morbius for sure, one of the great early villains of the Baker era.

I also agree with you gentlemen on two counts:

Pertwee and the Cybermen would have been fantastic - it is utterly amazing why that never transpired! I would have loved to have seen him face off against the Cyber Leader; Pertwee would have cut the Leader down to size.

As for the latest villain, I'll go with the majority here.

Morbius was by far one of the freakiest villains in the show's history.

Omega wins - but Im talking about his appearance in The Three Doctors, rather than Arc of Infinity.

It was a mistake bringing him back, one of JNTs other failures I think!!!

Don't dis Morgus, Martin!

(I was close to voting for him - I thought he was an exceptionally good villain, with Shakespearian qualities - talking to the audience as he made his plots, etc)

Anyway, on this round it has to go to Omega, no doubt.

Just forget Arc of Infinity ever happened!

Wheras Rorvik had a spaceship made out of White Dwarf alloy, and slaves. Surprised he's made it this far!

Scaroth vs Sea Devils.

I'll go with the Sea Devils, as they proved a good match for the Pertwee Doc.

Once again, Im talking about their debut story, and not Warriors of the Deep, which was quite simply an embarassment!!!!!

Scaroth was good; the Sea Devils suffered from not having the same sympathetic edge he and the Silurians had--they just came out of the ocean and scared light house keepers and such.

They certainly were a excellent pair of foes for Pertwee.

Noticed that apart from the repeated foes from earlier series, that none of the new foes really come up as worthy foes for a repeat performance?

This is a good point; the Slitheen came back to a universal groan and Mark Gatiss has been criticised for the Wire resembling the Gelth too closely! The return of Lady Cassandra worked because she was no longe the primary threat and her character developed; a rerun of The End of the World would have been panned!

Scaroth and The Sea Devils is too hard for me to choose.

That one has to be a tie! (for me)

As for Cassandra, she was fantastic in New Earth - one of the better villains from the new, new series.

I don't think much of The Wire or The Gelth. The Unquiet Dead was a good story - but The Idiot's Lantern could easily pass for something from the crappy Mc Coy years - I thought it was a lousy story.

Sutekh for sure.  A wonderful baddie in a classic story, what more can be said?

Although I do have  a fondness for Styggron,  The Android Invasion is one of my fave Baker stories.

This is a hard one, 2 great villians from 2 classic stories. Sutech is a thought of a god in some cultures but I have to go with Styggron has the brains to be better all he has to do is create a androids doubles. just think if he team up with the autons this would be a hell of a team.
