Two ideas for speculation.
Firstly, we know/assume that Torchwood are dealing with Cyber-people in some form. What are the odds regarding other Who adversaries? Perhaps Daleks !
Maybe the Master (though they would HAVE to be out of their depth with that one.)
Secondly, following on from that, which previous opponents might the Doctor face in series 3 ?
Any ideas ? ,....... |

While it's nice to see some foes from the past returning, I much rather see new villains in well written stories.
The last thing I want to see is Dr Who or Torchwood fall into the 'JNT Syndrome' - relying on past glories to prop up a show.
Torchwood should definately avoid having any Dr Who monsters in it as much as possible - it deserves to become its own show with its own baddies.
In my opinion, if fans want to see an old foe - they should watch one of the 'classic series' dvds. |

Cheers for that. will let Greg know as he is the master of the IT in our home!!!
Damn it was a good episode though.
I have a few observations:
1. Captain Jack's character is remarkably similar to that of Leo from Charmed.
2. This last episode was quite Buffyesque...
3. Torchwood definitely not for kids! |

1. Leo is meant to be a fluffy goodie, whilst i see Jack as more of selfish anti-hero.
2. Agree, but it is hard not to be with darkish show.
3. Definatley

To be honest, I don`t care if the adversaries are old, new, circumstantial or non-existent; let the stories all be well written! I only thought it might be fun to speculate (without money changing hands) on possibilities and situations. However, for the moment Torchwoods` success is inextricably linked to the historical success of Doctor Who and so would certainly benefit from being bolstered by familiar combatants. Oh, by the way,... Axelf; do you really think that good adversaries such as Daleks and Cybermen should not have been included in the new Who series` or the Cyber-Woman in Torchwood. After all, we could always go and buy the old episodes. Or, perhaps it could be interesting to update (upgrade?) the creations and develop the relevance of their existence to our modern form of humanity. Furthermore, as Jackie and Harriet observed, Earth isn`t always protected by the Doctor. Do Daleks and Cybermen and other would be conquerors scan our planet and say "sorry; there are no Time Lords here to protect this planet. It would be SO unfair to attempt an invasion at this time"? On balance I would say that it would be entertaining and possibly informative to explore how might we (or Torchwood)defend ourselves in our ignorance without the intervention of a Galifrean. After all, he does wax lyrical about us Apes {though I`m sure Shakespeare would have described it better; had he met the Doctor, that is.} |

Just watched the latest Torchwood episode. The other night I wrote disparagingly of the series and at the last minute pressed delete instead of send. After tonight I am so glad I did. Don`t get me wrong, there are flaws in abundance regarding plot, technicalities and organisational set-up etc,... But I have a feeling, perhaps a longing, that this first series is a build up to something much more interesting. It wasn`t that the plot was original in any way; more the advance in characterisation (which I felt was originally weak) and talent. I won`t say much more as I would hate to spoil it for anyone. But I thought I would mention it in case there were others who felt as I initially did.
It`s getting better ! |

Episode 4 is called Cyberwoman. She is a partly converted from the last episode of the David tenant series where the Cybermen battled the Daleks. javascript:replaceText(' ', document.editor.text) :00: javascript:replaceText(' :\'(', document.editor.text) :\'( |

Very dark, very macabre,..Very Good ! And at two points a little bit gruesome. "They Keep Killing Suzie." Bit by bit characters` histories are being revealed although there was a missed opportunity to further the enigma of Jacks seeming immortality. But (and a very big but) I still find it difficult to believe that the initial characters would have been recruited given their personality traits. They need some counselling. The smack-around-the-head-and-"get a life, saddo" sort of counselling. Also a big flaw in the premise of the entire concept is,"what happened to Torchwood London and Edinburgh,... etc" Still, it gets better. |

Invisible Eugene? No,"Random Shoes" is the title of this episode. It doesn`t further any sub-plot to the series but, I tell you what,... This is a great episode! Well written, well acted and (as we seem to expect) well produced. Think "Love and Monsters" and it gives you an idea of the narrative, though not quite as good. Though the premise is nothing original, this is an example of substance before style. Well worth watching. |

London was badly damaged in the end of the last seasons episode of Dr Who. Also earlier Torchwood another site has disappeared aka B4 in Babylon 5.

There is NO way that the producers/writers of Torchwood will allow continuity nor reality to get in the way of their "vision". Whether this is a good or bad policy is a subject for further discussion which I have suggested elsewhere.BUT !!!!! In the case of Torchwood; the opening lines to each episode is that the 21st Century is ",...when everything changes,..." which,to my my mind, intimates that the population of Earth (even the dimmest proportion) is aware of astounding events. But it seems that only the Torchwood team and a handful of conspiracy theorist Geeks seem to be aware that this is the age of change! Back to my original question
Is it better to disregard continuity for the sake of a good story or does a good story suffer from the lack of continuity/convincingness !
As for the Babylon 5 reference,I didn`t see All of the series` but, wasn`t the disappearance of Babylon 4 and its` Commander germaine to the plot?.....(admittedly because of production/cast/scheduling reasons) |

Torchwood-Out Of Time Just seen the latest episode. Had high hopes. Okay,..ish, but like anything else dropped from on high, the higher it`s dropped from, the more it`s dashed. The only plus is the history (if that word is applicable in time-travel stories) regarding Capt Jack H. Other than that don`t expect too much. No explanation, very little exploration and only a slight resolution. |

Watched the second Dr Who Christmas Special. Doesn`t live up to the hype (that would be a feat & a half) but still a great episode. Weakest link for my money is Catherine Tate. Perhaps it`s my own prejudice (I don`t find her funny) but I found not only her character unbelievable but also the Doctors` reaction to her even more incredible. The episode established her character as an ignorant boorish pointless chav and culminated with the Doctor extending an invitation to her to travel with him. Thankfully she declined. |

Firstly; if you were head of multi million $ organisation, would you, in the face of the destruction of your head office, not attempt to exercise some central control? I Dont Think So ! Secondly, If you were a provincial outpost of that same organisation, would you not seek some leadership (dont forget, your job might depend upon it; not to mention your lives.) But never mind. This is about adventure not reality. |

I don't see Capt Jack cares about superiors. Also the regional centers are probably have a certain amount of autonomous control. |
