The BBC has confirmed the new face of Doctor Who will be that of David Tennant.

What does this David Tennant person look like? His aesthetic can't be as inappropriate as Eccleston's (a Doctor Who with a number 2 haircut and leather jacket - that's not The Doctor!!!!!) Also, can he act? I have no knowledge of this artist. P.S. Eccleston can act - BUT his portrayal of The Doctor was too 'attitude filled' and curt when regarded with the persona of the eccentric Edwardian gentleman that has so clearly defined all of his predecessors. Mc Gann had the formula right both aesthetically and in character. The BBC did not need to change this. Either Eccleston becomes more 'Doctorish' (ie, grows his hair, goes a bit silly , sounds scientific and shows universal compassion) or I'm going to be applauding the moment when he regenerates!!!!!

Dear Jimmy, he is babyfaced and has been cast in a variety of roles. His youth (today is his 34th birthday!) has been the single most controversial thing about his casting--Peter Davison was 30 IIRC, but Tennant looks fresh out of nappies! I for one applaud his casting. Images available at Outpost Gallifrey and the BBC's Doctor Who site, for his filmography check out his listing atThe Internet Movie Database.

Martin, I just had a look at the BBC website and have seen Mr. Tennant. He looks a bit smug doesn't he? But as I believe the Second Doctor said, "Appearances aren't everything." At least this one has hair and doesn't look like he should be at a football match in Birmingham or Manchester, ready to put the boot in!!!!!!
