Voyage of the Damned beaten by damned Squares
27/12/2007 18:41 GMT

Posted by Martin

The 2007 Doctor Who Christmas special featuring Kylie Minogue on the Titanic was narrowly beaten in the ratings by the incestuous antics in Eastenders' Albert Square.

Overnight figures show the Doctor Who Christmas special beaten 13.8 million to Eastenders' 13.9. This may change as more reliable ratings are tabulated. This is a personal best for the show since the 1979 story City of Death, which did have the advantage of commercial rival ITV being on strike at the time,

The long running soap has been Doctor Who's rival since the mid-eighties, and is probably responsible for the 1985 gap, the 1989 cancellation and lots of other bad things too.
