Fox developing US version of Torchwood

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is producing a US version of the Doctor Who spinoff. Torchwood producers Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner are attached, along with BBC Worldwide America chief Jane Tranter.

I hope this will be an American Torchwood set in the same universe as the original. I hate it when they just reset the whole thing in an America setting (ala Life on Mars) as though it's not any good until it's American. Usually it's anything but as good as the already out standing original. The Americans should learn that all of life revolves around Cardiff.		Castlestein

The April 21st Hollywood Reporter quotes a BBC Worldwide press release saying Fox has pulled out of the new version of Torchwood. The release quotes Jane Tranter, vice-president of programming and production, on the project continuing without Fox's involvement: "It's very much ongoing and very much alive." She denied there was an American version of Doctor Who on the cards. "It may well be confusing to have a British Doctor and an American Doctor at the same time," she said. "There is only one Doctor, so I don't see that happening."		Martin
