Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica has been cancelled, in a move surprising few.
The show has had the axe hanging over it for moths; webisodes series Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome was planned to be upgraded to a fellow series but was not green lighted, indicating the SyFy cable channel was less than pleased with its BSG spinoffs. With a history of cancelling its own productions after one series and loosing the rights to Doctor Who to BBC America in 2009, SyFy (formerly SciFi) is looking a bit bare in the science fiction cupboard
With 13 episodes broadcast, SyFy has pulled the remaining five episodes off its schedules. Online campaigns to broadcast them have begun.
In 1995 channel TEN scored an unenviable record with its new show Earth 2 cancelled in the US the day before its local premiere.
First, Jericho, then Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, now Caprica.... when will the TV executives stop ruining my life :*-(
I suspect executives get a bad rep due to producers blaming them for every wrong while taking credit for every right. I don't see how you can have a cable channel called SyFy which specialises in canceling science fiction while keeping wrestling.
