Lunar eclipse 21 December 2010
19/12/2010 13:31 GMT

Posted by Martin

Part of a total lunar eclipse will be visible from Adelaide from 8.31pm Tuesday 21 December 2010.

The moon passes through the Earth's shadow, leading to a total eclipse best viewed from North America and the north pole. As it leaves the shadow, the moon rises for Adelaide (as the Earth turns) with the last hour of shadow visible.

Optimum viewing time 08:31pm - 9:35pm (CDT).

Eclipse disappointing, by the time it reached apparent horizon shadow was gone.

Unfortunately told us tooooooo late to see it.
There seems to be another in june/july and a second one in december in 2011 and more of it for the southern hemisphere instead of the northern hemisphere like this latest one.
