Doctor Who series six

With the embargo broken today, we can reveal what we've known for almost a month: Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut will screen on ABC1 19:30 Saturday 30 April 2011 and continue in this slot weekly.

ABC confirm the fast track, but are unable to give broadcast dates.

It makes sense for them to do that - plus I don't think anyone in here would mind that at all!

The ABC - like the other stations - seem obsessed with ratings (even though they claim they aren't), so the idea to fast-track it to avoid downloads, etc is a sound one.

It just remains to be seen how 'fast-tracked' it is.  If it's like Ch. 9 who 'fast-track' shows about 3 months later, then it's a dud move.  But if they do it only a day or so after transmission then yes I'd applaud the ABC wholehartedly.

Online speculation has the episodes going out on BBC1 at 18.00 on the Saturday, then ABC1 at 19.30 Sunday, 16 hours later.

There is a very big chance that it will only be 13 hours after transmission and that we will get it in March. The next UKTV Doctor Who Club is due out in early March apparently - in time for the ABC to screen the next series.

Not familiar with that club.
Do you mean it will screen an hour and a half later than it has been on BBC1 or at 17.00 in the afternoon Sundays on ABC1?

Today's pre-emption by football ruins the existing schedule, but closes the one week gap, firming the broadcast date ABC's given us.
