The Usurians have only ever been namechecked in a novel; Valeyard returns in both novel and audio!

The Vardans were the shimmering light beings in 'Invasion of Time' werent they? If so, then they were pretty pathetic.
If thats the case, I'll go for the Vervoids, if only because they appeared in the 2nd best story arc of the Trial season - after the Ultimate Foe arc of course. |

The War Lords were a bunch of aliens who wore pervy black catsuits and dark glasses. Apart from calling themselves "War Lords" they didn't have much going for them. The War Chief was a Time Lord--'nuff said!

Wirrin definately. One of the very early memorable villains of the Baker era.
Pity they couldnt write them into Revenge of the Cybermen, seeing as they used the same set - might have made that story worth watching! |

The Weed was pretty menacing too--I'll go with the Wirren, although we've no idea how they deal with vegetable enemies!

Wotan looked pretty pathetic to me, one of those typical clunky Dr Who monsters that could get beaten within 5 minutes.
So I'll go for Xoanon for this one. |

When watching The War Machines it was pretty shocking to recognise WOTAN's voice as being a Zygon! But he's just a big cardboard box which predates the internet, Xoanon was way more interesting.
LUCKY LAST!

The Voord are notoriously unpopular and non-threatening--and the BBC thought they'd be the next Daleks, 'cos Marinus was written by Terry Nation...
OK! New round! |

Although "The Keys of Marinus" may be too long by 2 parts, I think it was one of Hartnell's best stories. AND I think the Voord were a 'good' villain'. They may not top the Silurians, but they were still superior to others like Captain Rack (possibly the most over acted part in Doctor Who history), Animus (in which all characters from "The Web Planet" were lame), Bennett (what a dork!), the Cheetah people (who looked about as threatening as a pink coloured tin of 'Whiskers') or Arcturus (the whole Peladon legacy was the worst of the Pertwee era). |
